  Home Care Program     

We have decided to chart an action plan to take care the minimum livelihood of people with disability who are bedridden for many years and  families struggling to provide basic minimum life support to persons with severe disability.

Now in it is decided to support 300 disabled and their families with food, medicine, cloth  and proper care giving .   Future India Foundation with the help of 150 volunteers could meet all the persons and families with special needs and established the need for a more disabled friendly social responsible program to address all the basic needs from food, medicine, care , home , education, and employment and income generation program and rehabilitation initiative with the support of local community.

Activities on the 1st phase of the project

1.Survey.   House to house visit survey is planned in all  grama panchayats to get the first hand info on the conditions of the persons with disability and their home environment. Aganwadi workers, literacy workers, schcol children and community volunteers can be engaged in this survey.

2.Special medical programme.  Medical camps are planned in panchayath level to evaluate the present health condition of the persons with disabilities . In theses camps persons with little mobility must be brought by trsportation  support. These camps must be planned in accordance with the special needs of the people. From this camp the total assessment on needs of aids and appliances, regular medication requirements and home based Medicare  etc can be identified and will be helpful for the planning of future social support programme. 

3. Formation of Parents’ forums and orientation programme. Parents’ forums are formed in panchayat level and given training on complex issues of disability and methods  to handle the special needs and issues of their own child. Parents are regularly interacted to address the needs of the disabled in their homes.

4. Volunteers training programme. Volunteers must be selected from the interested groups with in the aganwadi workers, literacy workers, Kudumbasree workers, and other interested people who can work for the welfare of disabled on their social comitments. They can be given training to understand different disabilities and its medical, social and personal issues . They can also be given training to handle them with compassion and love.
